Solar Tsunami Headed for Earth!

First of all what is a solar tsunami? Have you ever even heard of this phrase before? Well I know I hadn’t heard of a solar tsunami until I was doing some research on the effects of climate change & I stumbled across this article that said that a solar tsunami could wipe out the entire internet within a decade. Could you imagine a world without the internet? Things would be so much more peaceful for everybody I would assume because we would get to enjoy the beautiful outdoors more. Solar Tsunamis have probably been a naturally occurring phenomenon since the beginning of time but they were actually discovered in 1997 by the Solar & Heliospheric Observatory(SOHO). Solar tsunamis can also be referred to as solar flares, Morton-Ramsey waves, Coronal Mass Ejections or CME’s, but the technical term is actually "fast-mode magnetohydrodynamical wave," or MHD wave. Not only have they discovered that the sun recently fired a significant solar flare that could damage the Earth’s GPS systems, they also recently detected a “tsunami” of gravitational waves. No one can truly know what or where the causes of these turbulent events in space are originating from but uncovering space phenomena has been captivating minds since Plato and Galileo. These are just a few of many great scientific minds who have paved the way for revolutionary scientific & technological developments. So if we keep studying & researching these galactic anomalies I’m sure we will one day discover their true origins. In the meantime it is crucial that we all stay informed about destructive space events because they can affect our planet just as much as our local weather events & nearby forces of nature can. Although most solar flares never reach the Earth they are now getting closer and closer & we are seeing the effects in the Earth’s geomagnetic field. Not only do solar storms produce colorful auroras & sprites that light up the magnetic fields in the atmosphere they can also have disastrous effects on our space satellites and technology. Normally our magnetosphere protects us from solar winds & solar flares but the more frequent & powerful they get we could start to see negative effects here on Earth.
