What is the Paris Climate Agreement? It is an agreement made by representatives of 196 state parties on December 12, 2015 in Le Bourget, near Paris, France. The agreement was made to recognize the post-industrial risks and impacts of climate change and to encourage every country to pursue efforts to cut carbon emissions and keep the global average temperature well below 2 °C, but if possible below 1.5 °C. 2°C represents the average temperature of Anti- Earth (Counter-Earth), a state in which the conditions on Earth become catastrophic. 200 years ago the Earth used to function according to the laws of Nature, but after the Industrial Revolution in 1800 we began to increasingly burn fossil fuels creating abundant CO2 emissions. This turned the natural order of the ecosystem upside down and we began to see violent floods, infectious outbreaks and abnormal weather patterns. The Paris Accord pledges to reduce emissions up to 65% by 2030 compared to 2005 levels. The top 5 countries with the highest CO2 emission levels are China, USA, EU, India and Russia totaling 70% of the worlds carbon emissions. The rest of the world contributes 30% of emissions. This is why the Paris Climate Accord also pledges that developed countries donate 100 billion per year in climate finance until 2025 to developing countries in need of environmental assistance. Former President Trump announced his withdrawal from the Paris Agreement at the Rose Garden on June 1, 2017, to make room for coal, natural gas, steel and cement industries, while Joe Biden announced that we will be reentering this agreement at his January 2021 Inauguration. Although it may have its imperfections, a conversation and initiative for environmental protection remains a noble cause. Especially when avoiding imminent climate catastrophe. Efforts to reduce greenhouse emissions can substantially improve our air quality, create better atmospheric conditions for vegetation, and improve water purity. What is your opinion on the Paris Climate Agreement? Is it a positive step forward to bind the world together against a global issue. Or is it more important to prioritize American industries beforehand? Let me know your thoughts!
